Deadly Portuguese Men-Of-War Are Back At NJ Beaches

Every year we get stories about Portuguese Man o' Wars washing up on NJ beaches.

Last year we even got some cool video of one that showed up in Beach Haven:

This past weekend, a picture posted to Facebook started to make the rounds as another Man O' War was spotted on the beach in Wildwood.

According to National Geographic, the Man O' War is a siphonophore, an animal made up of a colony of organisms working together, so if you see one, there are likely many others in the vicinity. The sting is "excruciatingly painful" to humans but rarely deadly; however, it can paralyze smaller creatures.
