While the Monmouth County Regional Health Commission won't reveal which specific towns they've been seen in except to say it is "central coastal" areas.

In an advisory the Commission is warning residents not to fed coyotes and notes they look similar to German Shepherds.

Coyotes are naturally fearful of humans but will lose that fear once fed, making them a threat to humans and domestic animals.

The Commission also advises residents to put bird feeders away at night and to pick up seed on the ground, to keep garbage cans and compost piles secured, to not leave pets unattended at night and to walk them on leashes.

If you see a coyote, especially one that is not fearful of humans,  call the police.
