Courtney Love, who seems to lack that invisible barrier most us have between what we think and what we say, has gone on record with another gem: she claims Disney and the Muppets “raped” Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain‘s memory by featuring ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit‘ in last year’s movie, ‘The Muppets.’

Whether or not you approved of the barbershop quartet-stylings of the song as featured in the film, calling it “rape” is pretty harsh, especially from a woman who hasn’t always been terribly respectful of her late husband’s memory herself. On top of that, some of the claims she makes about the usage of the song are just flat-out wrong.

According to Spinner, Love says she alone gets to decide how Cobain’s music is used commercially, and that she never granted such permission to the filmmakers — meaning she conveniently forgot the stack of cash she got when she reportedly sold half of her rights to Cobain’s music and the exclusive rights to distribute the complete Nirvana catalog to licensing company Primary Wave Music.

And not only did Primary Wave sign off on using ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ in the movie, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic — Nivana’s surviving members — gave their stamp of approval as well. Grohl even went one further: he did a cameo in the flick, and we sure don’t remember him making any rape-like advances to Miss Piggy.

But while Love is blathering and using outrageously inappropriate metaphors, she and daughter Frances Bean are still raking in licensing fees. Kermit once sang “it ain’t easy being green,” but he clearly wasn’t talking about money. So maybe a check will be all it takes to make Love sing a different tune.
