A fishing crewman is recovering after being flown from 60 miles at sea to hospital care for severe abdominal pain.

The U.S. Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay in Philadelphia dispatched an MH-65 Dolphin chopper crew to the Jeffrey Scott, off the Atlantic City coast, after being notified at about 5:20 PM Wednesday.

"This was a challenging hoist due to the amount of rigging on the boat, but when we got on scene the crew was prepared and extremely helpful," said pilot Lt. Kyle Burke in prepared comments.

"They maintained great communications with us through their VHF radio and everything went very smoothly."

The crew completed the lift at 6:45 PM, and had him checked into Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City by 7:30 PM, the Coast Guard said.
