The music world was stunned yesterday when the announcement was made that Van Halen guitarist, Eddie Van Halen lost his long battle with cancer at the young age of 65.

Eddie was diagnosed with tongue cancer back in 2000, and was cancer-free in 2002, just to have the cancer return in 2011.

I was fortunate to see Van Halen two times. The first time was with Sammy Hagar, the second was with David Lee Roth after he was reunited with the band in 2007 or so.

I have to be honest and say that the show with Sammy Hagar was the better of the two with Sammy Hagar being able to sing the David Lee Roth era songs, where David Lee Roth was not able to sing the "Van Hagar" songs

David Lee Roth also forgot the words to a bunch of songs, and just didn't look natural trying to dance around the stage as he did back in the '80s when he was originally with Van Halen.

One thing that was constant with both shows was Eddie Van Halen. He commanded a stage presence like no other playing the guitar.

Just like the way Slash from Guns 'N Roses makes his presence felt in a quiet but powerful way, Eddie was more like an animal on stage.

In both shows, Eddie was savage, shredding on that guitar like no other.

I consider myself lucky to be able to see Van Halen two times live in person. We probably won't see another like Eddie Van Halen ever again.

Check out this "sick" guitar solo going back to 1986. I suggest turning the speakers all the way up!!
