Seaside Heights' Casino Pier has announced five new rides for opening weekend.

According to nj.com:

A Jersey Shore amusement park wrecked during Hurricane Sandy plans to kick off the 2014 season this weekend with five new rides on its lower deck.

One new addition is the "Drop N Twist," which rockets riders 56 feet up in the air before plummeting down (it also rotates 360 degrees, allowing for full views of Seaside Heights and the Atlantic Ocean).

There's also the Air Race ride, that seeks to give riders the experience of acrobatic flight, a kid's beach buggy ride called the Jump Around, and bumper cars.

One of the rides is returning from having been destroyed by Sandy, the Musik Express.

The Musik Express is returning to Casino Pier for the 2014 season on the Jersey Shore. It seats up to 60 riders in 20 cars, which accelerate in a circular train up and down the track’s hills and through a tunnel as Casino Pier’s DJ plays the latest popular music through a heart-pumping sound system.

Unfortunately, there won't be a roller coaster this year to replace the Jet Star because the upper deck still needs to be rebuilt.

The amusement pier plans to open this Saturday at noon to start the 2014 season.
