Bruce Springsteen, Dave Grohl and Zak Brown performed at the Concert for Valor last night on the Mall in Washington, D.C. and stirred up some controversy.

The choice of song, "Fortunate Son" has been criticized by some people, who didn't think it was appropriate for a concert honoring veterans.

As reported in hollywoodlife.com:

Bruce has definitely angered and upset many Veterans with his rendition of the anti-war song with lyrics that include,“ain’t no military son.”

Social media attacked Bruce, chastising him for playing the song, but there were his defenders as well.

John Fogerty, who wrote the song, said this about it, "the song speaks more to the unfairness of class than war itself. It's the old saying about rich men making war and poor men having to fight them."

The song expressed opposition to the war in Vietnam when it was written but was supportive of the soldiers fighting there.

Most of the soldiers came from the working class, and were there because they didn't have connections who could get them out, because they weren't a "Senator's son."

I think the song is a fantastic tune, but I believe it was not the best choice for the event.

What do you think? Was the song appropriate for the event on Veterans Day or was it an insult to soldiers?
