Brick Coach Rob Dahl Rescinds Resignation

In a dramatic turn of events, Brick head football coach Rob Dahl said Wednesday that he has now rescinded his resignation two days after filing it on Monday and will return for his third season as head coach.

Dahl received some difficult and personal family news on Monday that caused him to initially believe that he would not be able to coach and prompted his resignation, but an outpouring of support from the Brick football community and administrators on Tuesday made him change his mind.

He met with athletic director Bill Bruno, Brick principal Dennis Filippone and Brick superintendent Dr. Walter Uszenski, who supported his return.

“I found a way to balance out family and coaching, and my wife was a big influence in that,” Dahl said. “I had a lot of humbling experiences yesterday. I had over 200 texts from players and parents saying not to leave and that we have to stick together through adversity, and I had players coming to the house and saying prayers in my living room.

“It was overwhelming, and I just said I have to stop and second guess what I’m doing here. With my wife’s support, I made the decision to rescind.”

Dahl’s return ensures that after having Shore Conference legend Warren Wolf as the program’s only head coach for its first 51 seasons of existence, Brick will not be in search of its third head coach in the last five years since Wolf retired. Dahl’s teams have gone 9-11 in his two seasons, finishing 6-4 in 2011 and 3-7 this past season with a young, sophomore-laden team.
