When you need to get new furniture, it may seem overwhelming.

My wife and I are in the process of buying a house and with that comes the added stress of figuring out where to get new furniture.

Do you just order something online and hope it works out?

Or do you go to a brick-and-mortar store like the Ashley's in Seacourt Plaza?

There are pros and cons to both.

Right off Hooper, the Gelco Store in Toms River was always great to shop for furniture.

Sadly, the Gelco Store closed up shop last year.

More on that here.

Gelco Furniture has sat empty for the past few months, but now it looks like big changes are coming.

What Is Replacing The Gelco Furniture In Toms River, NJ?

Oddly enough, Gelco Furniture will be replaced with, a drum roll please, another furniture store.

Not just any furniture store though, but one that has 13 New Jersey locations and is known for getting you the most bang for your buck.

Personally, I'm prone to the store's commercials.

Sure, the little animated Bobs guy is kind of freaky, but he makes you want to buy a sectional or two!

Although there's no timeline for an opening date, APP reports that Bob's Discount Furniture is set to open in Toms River at the former home of Gelco Funiture.

Located at 1288 Hooper Avenue in Toms River, this will be Bob's Discount's first Ocean County store.

Before Bob's Discount Furniture can open, APP reports there are a fair amount of repairs and refurbishing that need to be done to get the store up and moving.

No one likes lots of change, but it happens, even our local malls see change all the time.

Stores that are no longer open but you really wish were.

These are the long-gone NJ mall stores we miss the most

With so many trends of the 1990's back in style, it's a great time to look back at a strong foundation of 80's and 90's culture — New Jersey mall shopping. Some stores were a highlight, every trip.
