Berkeley Township Underwater Search and Rescue Unit Needs Your Help!

BTUSAR is a non-profit, 100% volunteer organization and unlike Fire, Police, and EMS, they don’t receive funding. They need your help!

BTUSAR conducts surface water rescue, ice rescue and waterborne rescue training for emergency first responder organizations as well as salvage, recovery, cleanup, and marine mammal assistance in the Barnegat Bay and surrounding areas.

The equipment is supplied out of the pockets of the volunteers. Recently the air compressor used to fill SCUBA tanks has gone down permanently and cannot be repaired; and without air to breathe, capabilities as a rescue squad have been effectively cut in half.

A replacement compressor capable of filling tanks with breathable air can run anywhere between $5,000 and $15,000. They are in desperate need of funds to cover the cost of a new compressor, and without it they are unable to function as a rescue unit.
