A Beachwood man and former volunteer youth team leader at Saint Barnabas Catholic Church in Bayville has been sentenced to 180 days in jail for downloading and sharing images of prepubescent children engaged in sexual acts over the internet, according to the Ocean County Prosecutors Office.

45-year old Anthony Mauro was arrested on the child porn charges in August of last year where police found over 100 child porn movies and images at his Compass Avenue residence.

Mauro previously pled guilty to two counts of Possession of Child Pornography and was sentenced on Tuesday to 180 days in the Ocean County Jail and Parole Supervision for Life by the Honorable Therese A. Cunningham, J.S.C.

Mauro's sentence stems from an investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office High Tech Crime Unit into the downloading and sharing of images of prepubescent children engaged in sexual acts over the internet.

Senior Assistant Prosecutor Kristin Pressman prosecuted Mauro.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and Beachwood Police Department provided assistance to Ocean County Prosecutor's Office High Tech Unit in its investigation.
