A Bayville man who was riding along Forest Hills Parkway and allegedly turned from the shoulder into an oncoming car near Veterans Park Saturday has died from his injuries, according to Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Spokesman Al Della Fave.

Investigators say 85-year old Harold Bennett of Lanoka Harbor was heading westbound on the road when the 76-year old man on his bike turned into the passenger door of the oncoming 2015 Chrysler Town and Country van around 2:30 pm.

The bicyclist was brought to Community Medical Center where he passed away around 3:17 pm after succumbing to his injuries.

Bennett remained on the scene and showed no signs of being impaired.

He also did not have a cell phone at the time of the crash.

A witness traveling behind Bennett remained on scene and corroborated how the accident took place with responding officers.

The Berkeley Township Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Fatal Accident Investigation Unit were on the scene following the accident.
