According to the office of Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato, an 18-year-old was apprehended in Stafford a short time after the shooting, which was reported to Barnegat police at about 1 AM. A second suspect, who authorities believe pulled the trigger, was rounded up at a friend's house in Barnegat at about 8 AM.

The 24-year-old victim sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was rushed to Atlanticare Trauma Center in Atlantic City for surgery. His condition was listed as critical but stable, authorities said.

Investigators believe that the pair were visiting a friend in Barnegat. The suspect who was later stopped in Stafford and an acquaintance became embroiled in an argument with the victim. They separated, after which the suspects from Virginia traveled to the victim's North Main Street house and allegedly opened fire as he emerged to leave.

This is a developing story. We will have more details as they become available.
