The Atlantic City Surf were a minor league baseball team from 1998-2008. Before the 2009 season began, the team was folded, and Surf Stadium has been empty ever since.

Now, city officials are exploring the possibility of bringing baseball back to Atlantic City.

I actually went to a Surf game years ago, and it's a pretty cool spot for a stadium. The AC skyline is featured beyond the outfield, and while it's a nice backdrop for games, it would be even better when the stadium held concerts like we have at FirstEnergy Park.

With new casinos trying to spruce up the image of Atlantic City, bringing in a new sports team couldn't hurt either. I know "family friendly destination" is an overused cliche, but it's still something that works. Instead of people only visiting AC to gamble away the kids' college fund, you can bring everyone out to watch some baseball (and maybe gamble on the outcome while you're at it).
