The Ocean of Love “Billboard Radiothon” is exactly THREE DAYS AWAY and I am asking for your help in helping Ocean County families whose children have cancer.

Please read this letter that I wrote explaining what the radiothon is all about, and why it is so important to make a donation to Ocean of Love.

105.7 The Hawk’s Ocean of Love Billboard Radiothon is upon us. It takes place Monday, Oct 22ND at 5 p.m. and will run through the week ending Friday, October 26th at 6 p.m.

Once again this year we are bringing the radiothon to the Target Shopping Center on Hooper Ave in Toms River that is central to our community. I will be living high atop the billboard for the entire week as we look to raise $105, 700 for Ocean of Love.

If you are not familiar with Ocean of Love, they are an AMAZING organization in Ocean County which helps families whose children have Cancer.

Ocean of Love is there to help these families any way necessary. Whether it is for emotional support (a shoulder to cry on), financial support or just advice on what might be the best treatment for a family’s child, Ocean of Love is there. 24 hours a day. 7 days a week. 365 days a year.

This year is no different. Once again, we are asking for your help. No. We are begging for your help. The money that we raise for Ocean of Love puts food on the table for families who can’t afford it due to overwhelming medical expenses. It puts presents under the Christmas trees of families who can’t afford to buy them. It gives the families gas cards so they can travel to the only hospitals that provide treatments for the kids, but the hospitals are sometimes out of state, or miles upon miles away. Those are just a few of the examples of the work that Ocean of Love does. Not to mention the Fashion shows, the holiday parties, the activities they provide for the families to let them feel a sense of “normalcy” even if it’s just for a few hours for one evening.

These families; these beautiful children, did absolutely NOTHING to deserve Cancer. They want to live their lives as easy as possible. Unfortunately, a lot of them can’t. We need your help.

We are asking you to donate ANY amount of money. NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL. We understand greatly that times are tough for a lot of people financially, but we are asking you to donate any amount possible. Whether it be pocket change, a collection from your office, or a check from your personal bank account, it’s about the community coming together to help kids and families that are less fortunate than others. These are families that live in your neighborhood. Go to the same schools as your kids, and possibly work with you as well. To see the smiles on these children’s faces when they realize that we are there to help them and that we are taking some of the financial burdens away and giving them less to worry about. That’s what makes it ALL worth it. That is what this fundraiser is all about.

Hopefully not, but you never know if one day YOUR family will be affected by such an ugly disease. And if so, Ocean of Love will be there for you and your family as well.

Please listen to 105.7 The Hawk to hear the outpouring of compassion, and to hear the stories from these kids and their families about what Ocean of Love means to them, and just how important it is that we raise this money. We also ask you to follow along on 1057thehawk.com with our live blog, and the videos & pictures we’ll be posting all week. And then we ask you to jump in your car. Come to the “billboard” and PLEASE make a donation. You will also be able to make donations through our website as well

All the details are at 1057thehawk.com. Please take a moment to check it out.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and when I come down off the “billboard” at week’s end, I look forward to presenting a check in the amount of $105,700 (and hopefully more) to Ocean of Love, courtesy of YOU.

Sincerely,

Andy Chase-105.7 The Hawk
