While most northern barrier island residents were allowed back home, residents in the inland community of Mantoloking may not be allowed to repopulate their community until this summer.

Patch of Brick reports that officials have expressed concerns about public safety after a huge 20-foot inlet formed when the ocean met the bay during Superstorm Sandy and as many as 200 homes are slated for demolition.

Residents also learned Monday night at Mantoloking's reorganization meeting held in Point Pleasant Beach that electricity could be fully restored by the end of February.

According to the Borough's Engineer a breach where the inlet formed has been repaired,  Route 35 has been rebuilt, repairs to the sewer lines and water system are also complete.
