...begins with one step (into a car).

My girlfriend and I took a mini-vacation to Florida. She has family that lives in a suburb of Tampa, and we took the trip to buy a new car from a family member who works at a dealer. Here's a quick rundown of some of the stats of the trip:

Miles I drove on Wednesday January 30th: 1,020.

Time I spent driving on Wednesday January 30th: 15 hours, 45 minutes. Left at 4am, tapped out at 9:30pm. My girlfriend drove the last hour and a half.

Number of states: 8 and a half: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia (Washington, DC), Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey.

Number of speeding tickets: ZERO!  (hell yeah!).

Number of cop cars that gave me a momentary heart attack: at least 5.

Number of huge 18-wheelers that also gave me a heart attack as I tried to pass: countless.

Number of traffic jams: surprisingly only one, somewhere in Georgia.

Number of animals we drove to Florida with: one dog.

Number of animals we returned to NJ with: one dog, one cat.
