It was January 30, 1969 and The Beatles gave their final public performance on the Apple rooftop in London.

It was a surprise concert that was short lived.

As police ascended to the roof, the Beatles realized that the concert would be shut down, but continued to play for several more minutes.

People gathered on the streets below and traffic came to a halt, but of course few people could actually see them performing.

In fact, prettygreen.com shares this quote:

“So we were playing virtually to nothing - to the sky, which was quite nice. They filmed downstairs in the street - and there were a lot of city gents looking up: 'What's that noise?'”
- Paul McCartney

The concert ended with John Lennon's infamous and cheeky, "I'd like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we've passed the audition." :-D
